Massage For Seattle Inc

Massage guidelines and What to expect at the studio.

Type of Massage

The type of massage I do is primarily about relaxation and reduction of stress
in order to let the client's body heal itself. I have taken techniques from several different massage disciplines and incorporated them into a soothing and free flowing massage that lets my client forget about the work day world for a moment and leaves them feeling rejuvenated.

To accentuate the spa-like experience all treatments in my studio begin with a relaxing herbal foot soak.
Although my work is very sensual, it is not sexual in any fashion. Please do not
schedule an appointment if you are looking for something other than a professional massage.

The primary disciplines I generally incorporate are Swedish massage and gymnastics
including deep tissue techniques, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Ayurvedic massage, broad plane myofascial techniques, and sports massage. Since each client is unique I use a different fusion of these techniques for each massage.

Your Comfort

Room Ambiance

The massage table is heated and I have plenty of blankets, so adjusting the
table temperature to your preference is not a problem. I generally burn a
few
beeswax candles, keep the lighting dim, and play soft music.
The room has air conditioning, so even if its hot outside your session
should be comfortable.

Music

To make your massage experience more enjoyable I have selected music which I enjoy. If you have your own music  that you find relaxing and would like during your massage, please feel free  to bring it.

Draping and privacy

In addition to keeping you warm and comfortable, I generally drape my clients with a sheet and blanket or towel to preserve modesty and only expose the portion of the body that is being worked on at that time. Likewise, when doing abdominal work on clients with breasts I typically use an additional drape. You are welcome to ask for other draping options if it will increase your comfort level.

As noted in the guidelines, the optimal way to receive a massage is fully unclothed. I will leave the room to allow you to undress and cover yourself with the sheet and blanket before returning to the room to start your massage.

canceling your appointment.

Guidelines

  • Before the session begins
ask any questions you may have. If you have any concerns discuss them with
your therapist. Be clear about your goals for the session and what you
    expect.
  • The optimal way to receive a
massage is fully unclothed. If this is not
comfortable for you, you may wear whatever makes you the most comfortable.
Only the areas of your body being worked on are exposed at any given time.
To maintain your privacy your therapist will leave the room as you undress
and get on the table. (For the Lomi Lomi treatments, a sarong is used for
draping and more of the body is exposed to facilitate the longer strokes and
    more fluid modality).
  • During the massage, try to allow yourself to relax. Close your eyes and focus on long slow deep breaths. Remember that you do not need to help the therapist move your limbs. Let gravity and the therapist do all the work. However, if your therapist moves you into a position that is painful or uncomfortable, please
    let him know.
  • Good massage requires
feedback from you regarding what is and isn’t working for you.
  • Because massage is relaxing,
the body sometimes releases tension and the mind sometimes releases emotions and energy. Allow yourself to feel or express emotions as they arise. This is particularly true with the Lomi Lomi massage, which some clients find to be very healing on the emotional as well as physical level.
Similarly you may fall asleep. Your therapist will wake you when it is
necessary for you to roll over or when the session is ended.
  • Please provide feedback
regarding the quality of your massage. We would love to hear how to make
your next visit even more enjoyable.
